US Magnesium LLC solar evaporation ponds encompass over one hundred square miles of the Great Salt Lake in Utah.

US Magnesium is nearing completion of the construction of a plant to produce lithium carbonate, a key raw material in the production of lithium ion batteries and ceramics. All major equipment has been installed and initial production is slated for the second quarter of 2020.

The company has been pursuing involvement in the burgeoning energy storage market since 2017. Bench scale laboratory development and the operation of a pilot plant for six months led to the design of the commercial lithium carbonate plant with a nameplate capacity of 10,000 ton per year.
